Zaytoven Explains Why He Rejected Jeezy/Gucci Mane’s Offer

We can’t argue that Zaytoven has to be one of the best producers at this time. And because of their 2005 duet “Icy,” Gucci Mane and Jeezy will indeed be indelibly tied. Gucci’s career was established with this song, which later became a household smash hit for both rappers. Both rappers, however, had their disagreements over who possessed the song, which ultimately escalated to a larger feud years later.

Zaytoven talks about the incident

Zaytoven discussed well about the “Icy” track in a recent interview with DJ Vlad, stating that Jeezy sought to acquire the song for his own album. Despite giving the track to Jeezy, who became the biggest rapper at the time, would’ve been ideal, Zaytoven was loyal to Gucci Mane, according to the producer himself.

“Well, you gotta think, Gucci, this is my guy. This is the guy that comes to my house, 7:30 in the morning every day. We working on music with each other every day, we going to the club every day,” Zaytoven explained. “Nobody can come in and have me betray Gucci just because they got a bigger name, or who they are. To be honest with you, I was a fan of Gucci more than I was a fan of anybody, so I was gonna rock with him regardless.”

Buried beef

Jeezy was hoping to include “Icy” on his upcoming album, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101. Nevertheless, Zaytoven stayed with Gucci Mane, and the song was released on Guwop’s Trap House. Gucci and Jeezy would subsequently get into a deadly brawl, which lead to the death of one of the Snowman’s cronies, Pookie Loc.

Following their Verzuz match-up last year, the old foes healed the past. Gucci and Jeezy sang “Icy” to finish out the thrilling battle, which fans felt wouldn’t ever transpire.
