Props to Kanye West’s legal team for taking down Walmart’s Foam Runners scheme. Although they took down their biggest problem, hundreds more still exist and continue to make these knockoffs.
Drama with Foam Runners
Kanye West’s Yeezy Foam Runners have taken over social media due to its unique design and comfortability, so it’s no surprise other businesses attempted to benefit. Ever since Friday, Walmart was forced to remove all the knockoffs from its online store and discontinue making and selling them.
Originally, Kanye West and Yeezy filed a lawsuit against Walmart, claiming them selling their $25 fake Foam Runners financially affected and cost Ye “hundreds of millions” of dollars in sales of the $75. Most sales that came from Walmart were actually from third-party sources.
Lawsuits and more
Most would think a lawsuit would push other companies from selling the popular pair, but hundreds of other listings are selling the Foam Runners. For example, Etsy remains a hotspot for sellers, with pairs pricing from $30 to $60. A specific listing was found, calling the shoes “Yeezy Inspired,” but they look like exact copies.
TMZ has already reached out to West’s team to find out if they have any plans to filed after the other listings like they did Walmart. So far nothing has been filed.
