Waka Flocka has been getting huge backlash after fans uncovered his past transphobic comments. Well-known hip-hop artist Waka might be in a bit of a dip when it comes to being exposed to his past LGBTQ hate while raising a daughter apart of the LGBTQ+ community.
Waka Flocka’s daughter is a part of the LGBTQ community
In the most recent episode of Waka Flocka’s reality TV show Waka & Tammy: What the Flocka, his daughter Charlie Williams announced that she will be escorted by her girlfriend at her quinceañera. In the same episode, Charlie shared her shocked reaction to receiving her dad’s approval so easily.
Even though many fans are elated about the news, a lot of them caught on to what seems to be a performative ally LGBTQ+ act that currently has Waka Flocka getting hit with backlash.
Waka Flocka was of course not going to let this backlash affect him, so he responded with a video which he shared via social media. In the video he clearly stated that he is “not a phobic; no I’m not none of that.”
“But what I’m gonna say bro is, I’m gonna support my daughter,” Waka Flocka continued.
“Y’all stop running with this narrative that she coming out ’cause she ain’t never hiding from nothing. She’s not no face, no spokesman, no nothing. She’s living her f—ing life, man. That’s all it needs to be. Cut it out man, that s— lame.”
Waka Flocka then went on to ask viewers, “Who raised y’all? Serious question for y’all. Are you raising a teenager? Are you a parent? Do you know how it feels? I’m not supportive of nothing; this is my daughter. The word ‘supportive’ don’t matter when you’re a parent because you’re automatically doing that. Y’all [are] tripping.”
Ambush of Fans
Waka was then ambushed with fans claiming he definitely opposed Dwyane Wade’s 13-year-old daughter Zaya for coming out. Fans then reminded Waka Flocka of the comments he made during a previous interview with DJ Whoo Kid that aired last February.
The Instagram user wrote, “So you’re upset that we are talking about your situation with your daughter, but yet you were the same one that was talking about Dwyane Wade’s daughter Zaya. Make it make sense, sir.”
Waka Flocka and his supporting wife Tammy Rivera came in and told fans people change and “much has changed since that time.” Many fans were still not convinced, but not everybody is going to side with you.
