Is Tory Lanez innocent or guilty?
Tory Lanez submits a not guilty plea today for the felony assault charge stemming from the shooting incident with Megan Thee Stallion this past summer.
Tory, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, entered a not guilty plea through his attorney, Shawn Holley. Lanez was arraigned Wednesday afternoon and is scheduled to return to court on Jan. 20 for a preliminary hearing.
The Canadian rapper allegedly shot Meg during an altercation in Hollywood Hills on July 12.
Megan came forward on social media with her side of the story
In August, Thee Stallion herself came forward with information regarding the fallout. She brought to social media, that Tory shot towards her feet after she exited the vehicle following a heated argument.
At the time of the shooting, Lanez was arrested and charged with possession of a concealed weapon.
According to the DA’s office, Lanez faced multiple felony counts in October including assault with a semiotic firearm, personal use of a firearm, and carrying a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle.
The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, Hollywood Division.
Innocent until proven guilty? Lanez is definitely in the hot seat
According to TMZ, Tory has so far posted $190,000 bond and has been ordered to stay away from Megan. If convicted, the Canadian rapper could face up to 22 years and 8 months in prison.
Recently, DirtySouthHipHop reported Megan explained during an interview with GQ that Tory offered her and a friend money to keep quiet following the shooting. Attorneys are also considering whether to charge Tory with violating protective orders after social media posts and an album professing his innocence.
The drama, however, didn’t slow up Meg as she’s just been Crowned GQ’s Rapper of the year and dropped her new album “Good News”. I’m sure fans are anxious to see how the case will close. Until then, stay tuned into DirtySouthHipHop!
