Shots Fired At Terrence J (Literally!)

Terrence J, an actor and entertainment celebrity, was allegedly the target of an unsuccessful follow-home robbery on Wednesday morning.

Around 3 a.m., Terrence J and a passenger were driving back to his Sherman Oaks house when an SUV with masked men stopped them and forced them out of their vehicle at gunpoint. He attempted to flee, but the men pursued him, and at least one of them opened fire on the popular BET anchor.

Terrence was with another person

Terrence J’s house also had a woman inside. She hid away in a bedroom when the alarm went off, fearful of being a victim of a violent crime.

In the midst of the robbery, Terrence J spotted a California Highway Patrol car and requested assistance from the officers. The Los Angeles Police Department issued a warning to citizens previously last week about follow-home robberies, which include perpetrators following people home after they leave premium restaurants.

“People need to be aware of the surroundings, especially leaving nightclubs, restaurants, and what have you,” said LAPD Sgt. Hector Olivera. “It seems that the suspects are targeting individuals that either have expensive jewelry, expensive cars, and things of that nature.”

Four black men in a silver Jeep Cherokee have been identified as the perpetrators. There were no reports of injuries.

Trend of crimes

Terrence isn’t the only one that has experienced a robbery, in fact the crime happened two days after the Los Angeles Police Department issued a community advisory to raise awareness about a “ongoing trend of follow house robberies.”

“Suspects have been locating victims in Los Angeles, following them, and then committing the robberies as the victim arrives home or at their business,” the bulletin said.

Victims have been followed from places like the Melrose Avenue shopping district, the downtown jewelry sector, nightclubs, and high-end restaurants, according to detectives. Expensive jewelry, such as watches, necklaces, and purses, has been the target of such crimes. According to police, victims have also been targeted depending on the sort of vehicle they were driving. Anyone who believes they are being followed should phone 911 and drive to the nearest police or sheriff’s department, according to the police.

“I’m alarmed. I’m shocked,” said local resident Bernard Adams. “I walk this neighborhood every morning. I’ve never seen or heard anything like that since I’ve been living here.”

We wish Terrence a speedy recovery from, the traumatic event
