Saweetie Upset With Warner Records
The Icy Girl Queen is upset with Warner Music after her new single “Best Friend” featuring Doja Cat was released “prematurely”. Over the weekend the surprise collab was released on DSPs only to receive major flack from Saweetie herself.
The young Atlanta bred artist expressed her disappointment towards Warner music and their release of the music saying she felt disrespected by the lack of consideration.
On her Twitter, Saweetie had these words for the situation:
“I am extremely disappointed in my label WBR for prematurely releasing a single I was so excited about.”
She went on in another tweet saying:
“I feel disrespected. I’m hands-on with ALL of my creative & had such a dope rollout for ‘Best Friends’. The thirst for clout & $ is real & it overrides the artists’ art.”
Another facet of the release that had Saweetie upset was that the wrong mix for the song was released. This blunder created further frustration and led to Saweetie saying:
“We put so much work into the visual & we shot for days for this super cinematic girl anthem. And for this to happen? Wow….”
In response to her outrage, Waner has taken the track down but has not given a statement regarding Saweetie’s comments. Her fans continued to show support in backing her stance on Twitter.
She gave the assurance that the situation will be resolved and reinforced the idea that the fans are always the biggest motivation for her growth and success.
“Icy gang always dealing with the bs with me no matter what it means so much. I LOVE y’all.“
If Saweetie’s feature with Doja Cat catches on like “Back to the Streets” featuring Jhene’ Aiko, it is sure to be a hit once the actual release comes. Fans will look out for the re-release of the new collab from the Icy Girl.
