We have a rising artist on our hands who is looking to add more to the industry like any other artist, meet Peso! Our Atlanta rapper likes to add smooth melodies to his pieces to make them like no other as a trap artist.
DSHH got the chance to interview this talented artist to get to know him as an artist and as a person.
What’s the significance of your name?
“I got the name Peso from the homie @1Princeink. He just gave me the name because I was always finding ways to make money. The SSX I came up with the homie @SSXMOON. SSX stands for SOUTHSIDE and or STILL SHINING. The X at the end just makes it rolls of the tongue better just being honest.”
What city do you hail from?
“I’m from Atlanta, Ga to be specific the south side Washington Rd 4500 Block. That’s why you see in most of my songs I’m saying 4500 because I want to make sure to let everyone know about Washington Rd.”
How are you going to approach the game as an artist?
“My style is a mellow trap vibe. I’m bringing smooth finesse and Atlanta melodies to every beat that I rap on.”
Who are some of the artists and producers you’ve worked with for your new music?
“I haven’t with any artist on my music as of yet. Reason be is because I want people to catch a feel for my voice and vibes what I put on the beat. As far as producers I’ve work a few Atlanta producers but no one really to major.”
Whom would you say are your greatest influences in music today?
“To be honest I’m going to say Lil Baby, we have a lot of similarities when it’s come to background when I say background I mean before the rap. I born and raised on the south side of Atlanta and I been getting money before rapping and been to prison got out and turnt up.”
What are you bringing new to the game for the culture?
“As far as new I don’t know what I’m bringing to be honest. But I’m bringing my melodies and flows to the game given a refreshed aspect of these streets.”
Explain your new single and what’s your current project?
“I’m working on my new project titled STILL SHINING. It’s in the works right now but for the crowd I just dropped 2 singles FREAK and SHOW SUM on all platforms now.”
So with the climate of today’s artists using ghostwriters, would you use any, and have you done any, for any artists out there now?
“As far as ghostwriters I don’t use any as of yet but I sure don’t mind have writers in my circle sometimes it can make the process easier if you have people around that can help you display your lifestyle in words.”
