The giveaway will be hosted in the student parking lot of Frederick Douglass High School on November 23.
People who sign up for a Greenwood Banking account will receive a free meal from Bankhead Seafood. One hundred turkeys will also be given out at the event in addition to HHCDC gift cards. Other endorsements come from former Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young and Ryan Glover of Bounce TV.
Mike’s Efforts Set Examples of Excellence
Killer Mike has helped pave the way for growing black wealth and equity in Atlanta. He has empowered his community through activism, such as sponsoring the Thanksgiving giveaway, as well as through songs like “Greatness,” a collaboration with WooDaRealist.
Another enterprise that has taken off for Mike is his barbershop and clothing store combo The Swag Shop, located in the Atlanta neighborhood Edgewood. The store features clothes with graphics that lay out Mike’s desire to unify the people of his community.
With hands in everything from politics to fashion, Killer Mike has become an icon in both the hip-hop culture and creative culture as a whole. His willingness to speak on his former life has become a tool to reach out to African-American communities across the country.
WIth a personal brand mission centered around advancing African-American society as a whole, Mike sets himself apart by impacting the world far beyond beats and rhymes.
In a time full of divisive energy following the passing of several rappers, the difference Mike makes in his community shows that progress can be made when unity is involved.
