It has been reported that Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty is currently taking a plea deal that may potentially reduce his punishment for not registering as a sex offender in California.
Kenneth never registered as a sex offender
According to docs filed by federal prosecutors, Kenneth has made an agreement to plead guilty to one count of failing to register, and now the feds promised they will find a lower sentence in return. Even though the Judge has the final say in what Kenneth actually gets, the feds regard the mandatory minimum sentence as 5 years of supervised release.
Honestly, it was smart for Kenneth to take the plea deal…considering the fact that the maximum sentence he could have faced is 10 years in prison with a lifetime of supervised release. He still has a probability of spending some time behind bars depending on how the judge views his criminal history.
Back in March 2020, he was charged after he moved to Cali with Nicki the previous year, and the feds said he never registered with local authorities as a sex offender. This was required because of a 1995 conviction in NY for first-degree attempted rape.
Since Kenneth had this federal case circulating him that meant he needed the court’s permission to be present when Nicki gave birth to their first child last year.
