New Song Set to Be Featured on Judas and the Black Messiah Soundtrack
As the tracklist for the new movie “Judas and the Black Messiah” came out on Tuesday (February 9), fans were instantly hyped by the sighting of a Jay-Z & Nipsey Hussle track.
The song between the two artists is titled “What It Feels Like” and is the fifth track off of the album. This track is the first official collaboration between Jay and the late Nipsey.
Even in death, Nipsey has been able to maintain relevance and influence within the culture as several artists like Big Sean have dropped features they had with the Crenshaw legend.
His estate recently announced the release for a visual album of Nipsey’s mixtape “The Marathon” as a tribute to him as a man and an artist.
Despite not having a feature together before “What It Feels Like”, Jay-Z still had acknowledged Nipsey’s grind in a freestyle that he performed at Webster Hall.
“Gentrify your own hood before these people do it, claim eminent domain and have your people move in/That’s a small glimpse into what Nipsey was doing/For anybody still confused as to what he was doing.”
Nipsey was tragically shot and killed on March 31st, 2019 in front of his Marathon Clothing store. Since that time his story and grind as an independent artist have served as a rallying point of inspiration for everyone in Hip-Hop culture.
While fans have wondered about a posthumous album, Nipsey’s brother Blacc Sam stated that a full album would not come unless it is in line with the documentary of his life which is currently in the works.
In the meantime, fans can hear Nip on his new track with Jay on the “Judas and the Black Messiah” soundtrack.
The project is scheduled to drop on February 12 and features tracks from other artists including Nas, Pooh Shiesty, G-Herbo, Black Thought, Rakim, SiR, H.E.R., and many other artists.
