JAY-Z Addresses Lil Mama Incident

JAY-Z has finally spoken out about Lil Mama’s interference in his and Alicia Keys’ MTV Video Music Awards performance.

JAY-Z break silence

On Tuesday (Dec. 21), he had been questioned via Twitter Spaces by his “Empire State of Mind” partner and Genius’ Rob Markman if he ‘d forgave the “Lip Gloss” rapper for invading the platform.

“Of course, of course. C’mon. Don’t do that… That’s our sister. Man, we love her,” JAY-Z said before offering a word of advice. “I wouldn’t recommend people just jumping on other artists’ stages…”

“She’s a New Yorker… She got excited,” he continued. “Things happen. Of course, we love her… yes, she’s forgiven. It’s all love, and she was coming from a place of love it’s just… may have been a little too excited.”

JAY-response Z’s is the very first moment he’s addressed the issue since it occurred. He was the one who informed Keys of Lil Mama’s appearance on the stage that night, despite keeping quiet for 12 years.

“In my head, I was such a gorilla at the time and I was like, ‘This is what’s happening. I’m going to destroy this record tonight,’” the “Unthinkable” songstress recalled on “Drink Champs.” “…Somehow, however, she got over here, I didn’t even bear witness to.”

“The whole show, I was iced… so focused on making it amazing. I went backstage and JAY was like, ‘So, you ain’t see that?’ And I was like, ‘What?’ And he was like, ‘Nah, you ain’t just see what just happened?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, we killed it. That’s what happened.’”

Alecia Keys forgets and forgives

Keys, like JAY-Z, forgiven Lil Mama in another interview, attributing her behavior to her level of enthusiasm.

“You know, she’s from New York,” the singer said. “You know, I think she really felt the energy of the record, and she loved it and she couldn’t hold herself back. Look, this is what my music does to people. What can we say?”

We can definitely say both are mature for forgetting and moving on to better things.
