In a year that has seen Harlow grab everything from a Grammy nomination to loose elbows in a basketball game in a celeb event with Russ’ team, the upstart rapper seems poised to make more progress.
His other EP Sweet Action came out on his birthday in March and helped to establish his case as a force to be reckoned with in the hip-hop culture.
Harlow’s Album Cover Causes Controversy
When the album cover for That’s What They All Say was tweeted, Harlow was faced with scrutiny from fans of Hip-Hop because of the imagery of a black woman’s leg in the limo with Harlow signing autographs.
A room was created on the popular ClubHouse app where the group claimed covers from white artists like Harlow’s are “whats wrong with Hip-Hop”.
Even though there were some who took offense to the cover for Jack’s new album, there were some who claimed there was no offense intended.
As a fellow recording artist, 21 Savage came to the defense of the album cover claiming the nature of the artwork is a natural part of the industry for an artist: “artists don’t book the [models for the album cover]”.
Following this attention from the album cover, it will be interesting to see how Harlow’s new album performs in sales.
