Ice Cube Speaks On Hollywood Influence On Racism

Ice Cube Speaks Up

It is no secret police violence against African-Americans is still around today, sure it may not be as bad as it was years ago but trust and belief it is still existing. We have actually seen a lot of it these past few years, such as the George Floyd case. Icecube also believes Hollywood has an influence on police violence.

During a Breakfast club interview, Ice mentions the way these directors and producers, are scripting these shows that show the injustices of black people can be a bad influence on children.

He says if a child is watching these shows, and they see black people being handled a certain way, this will encourage them to copy the violence being shown when they get into a profession in Law enforcement.

Stop It Hollywood

“I think Hollywood is complicit in this too. They done put out so many images that teach the police how to do us.”

“If you’re a 12-year-old kid watching TV and you grow up, you probably done seen hours and hours of how Black people are treated in this country… So by the time you become a cop, it’s already etched in your brain, from watching these dumb-a** shows – ‘Oh, this is how you treat them,’” Ice cube explains.

“Hollywood is helping the racism flourish.”

During the interview, the topic of Ice cube’s deal with Black America came up.

At the time he was receiving constant backlash for not taking up the chance to speak with Kamala Harris (the current vice-president,) about the CBWA.

He also had an affiliation with former president Trump.

“We heard from President Joe Biden’s senior advisor Cedric Richmond a couple of times. We’re still waiting for a follow-up on some things we were trying to get set up,” Ice cube says

“We’re doing a lot of stuff behind the scenes, out of the public’s eye because things get misconstrued, people chime in when they don’t know what they’re talking about.”
