While we’re in the last stretch of the election, Twitter went into a frenzy on Tuesday afternoon once the public became aware of Ice Cube’s involvement with Trump’s reelection campaign. Ice Cube worked with the president on the Black Economic Empowerment ‘Platinum Plan’ for Black Americans.
“Platinum Plan?” So what exactly is this “Platinum Plan?” The ‘Platinum Plan’ is based on four pillars. Opportunity, Security, Prosperity, and Fairness. President Trump’s ‘promise’ to Black America in the next four years consists of a string of commitments such as pledging to create 500,000 new black-owned businesses, access to better education and job training opportunities, and 3 million new jobs for the Black Community.
Sounds good, but some people on social media weren’t here for it. Social media users were puzzled to see Ice Cube team up with Trump’s campaign, especially after Cube said he would “never endorse a m-f##### like Donald Trump.”
Ice Cube didn’t keep quiet about the backlash. The “Check Yo Self” rapper addressed critics defending his Contract With Black America in a tweet saying, “Facts: I put out the CWBA. Both parties contacted me. Dems said we’ll address the CWBA after the election. Trump campaign made some adjustments to their plan after talking to us about the CWBA.”
“Every side is the Darkside for us here in America,” Ice Cube tweeted while defending the work he’s done with Trump. “They’re all the same until something changes for us. They all lie and they all cheat but we can’t afford not to negotiate with whoever is in power or our condition in this country will never change. Our justice is bipartisan.”
Though Cube states he is open to working with both parties, the rapper didn’t show too much faith in Dems after the Democratic National Convention. Thursday night, Ice Cube was expected to appear on CNN’s Cuomo Prime Time but the interview was canceled. Cube states Chris Cuomo and the network can’t handle the truth after Cube’s involvement with the Trump campaign came to light.
Regardless of the criticism, Ice Cube defended his decision.
