Clarence Williams III has died at the age of 81. Clarence Williams III was known for his famous roles in “The Mod Squad,” “Half Baked” and several other fan-favorite shows/movies. The notable actor’s management team announced the tragic death on June 7th (Sunday), stating Clarence had initially died on Friday in L.A. due to colon cancer.

Since the 60s, Clarence Williams lll built a long legacy of film with his initial start in theater which later turned him into a huge breakthrough in Broadway with a Tony win for his performance on “Slow Dance on the Killing Ground.” After his huge break, he went on to do TV and movie acting which he had various memorable roles.
One memorable role of Clarence Williams lll was his character on ‘Mod Squad’ as Detective Linc Hayes. The 81-year-old stared in five seasons, making it 123 episodes in total.

After his prominent work on ‘Mod Squad’, even more, work rushed in for Clarence — he was cast in supporting roles in notable shows like “The Littlest Hobo,” “Nasty Boys,” “The Cosby Show,” “T.J. Hooker,” “Hill Street Blues,” “Miami Vice,” “Twin Peaks,” “The Highwayman,” ‘Star Trek,’ “Tales from the Cyrpt,” “Walker, Texas Ranger” and many others.
Several standout performances of his include “Purple Rain”, where he played as Prince’s anguished dad. Clarence also starred Dave Chappelle’s stoner comedy “Half Baked”, in which he played an extravagant town drug lord Samson Simpson, who was also dueling with DC’s expanding Mr. Nice Guy weed establishment in the comedy.
