Over the past few months, COVID-19 has changed the ‘norm’ for sporting events, concerts, and many other [in-person] events.
Online events, such as Verzuz music battles presented by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland, gave us a way to watch some of our favorite artists perform while quarantining in the comfort of our homes. Atlanta has now given us a way to enjoy concerts in-person with our favorite artists while social distancing thanks to, Parking Lot Concert (PLC).
The Parking Lot Concert is a concert series that promotes social distancing by requiring visitors to experience the show from their vehicles.
The first concert for PLC took place on Jun. 6th at Murphy Park Fairgrounds featuring Atlanta-based artist Skooly. It has recently featured artists such as Young Dro and Travis Porter. Parking Lot Concert is held every Saturday evening at the fairgrounds.
The next concert is being held this Saturday, Jun. 27th with hip-hop artist, Peewee Longway. Peewee was one of the last signees of 1017 Records before founder Gucci Mane’s 2013–2016 imprisonment.
He is a member of the rap group, “Felix Brothers”, alongside Gucci Mane and Young Dolph. Peewee is best known for his mixtape, The Blue M&M, and his collaboration with Young Thug on, Loaded.
Gates open at 6 pm, and tickets can be purchased on the official Parking Lot Concert website.
