B.A.P.S. actress loses battle with colon cancer
The ‘unsung’ talented actress Natalie Desselle-Reid has passed away at the age of 53 from a battle with colon cancer. This news comes just a few short months after the passing of Chadwick Boseman from the same disease.
Remembering Natalie Desselle-Reid
Natalie is best known for her roles in films like “B.A.P.S.”, “Madea’s Family Reunion”, and the tv-series “Eve”. The news of her passing was confirmed on Monday by her manager, Dolores Robinson.
“Natalie Desselle the beautiful talented actress passed away this morning. Natalie was a bright light,” Robinson shared on Twitter. “She was an amazing actress and comedienne but also an awesome mother & wife. Sending prayers to her family. I had the pleasure of managing her career.”
Actress Holly Robinson-Peete, also Dolores’ daughter, shared her sentiments on Twitter as well.
“Just absolutely decimated by this news…Actress Natalie Desselle, a bright shining star passed away this morning. I got to know her when my mom was managing her. She will be so missed…sending out prayers to her children and husband. Rest In Peace, Sweet Girl.”
Natalie Desselle-Reid grew up in Louisiana and attended Grambling State University. Her first roles for both came in 1996 when she was featured in the tv-series “Family Matters” and the movie “Set It Off”. She later appeared alongside singer Brandy as the step-sister Minerva in “Cinderella” and in many other notable films.
Desselle-Reidd is survived by her husband, Leonard, and her three children: Sereno, Summer, and Sasha. The family of DirtySouthHipHop sends out our deepest condolences to the family.
