A sweet 16 year old boy from Michigan was prounounced dead after being violently restrained and sent into cardiac arrest.
Cornelius Frederick was staying at Lakeside Academy residential treatment facility in Kalamazoo, Michigan when the staff members working for the the treatment facility violently restrained him.
The facility Frederick was staying at was intended for children from the ages 12 up to 18. The children at the fcility were sent into the foster care services by their parents to get help for behaviour.
On April 29, the workers of the facility claimed Frederick “threw a piece of his sandwich” to another resident whom was staying there with him. The staff saw that as a threat and used what they call an “improper restraint” on Frederick. This restraint caused the 16 year old boy to go into cardiac arrest.
Two days later, Frederick was pronounced dead at the local hospital. The lawyer representing the 16 year old’s case is Tenia Goshay. The lawyer and family are demanding $100 million dollars for Frederick’s death.
